Taken at the opening of Stavanger 2008, this is an image I’m especially satisfied with, due to the situation I took it in. Tiptoeing in a huge crowd quite far away from a moving target in less than optimal lighting, waiting for him to be in a good position. Fortunately the waiting and effort paid off, and I got the image I wanted. And as I publish it today it is also my contribution to this Photo Friday challenge, Flight.

At ISO 1600, what happened to noise?
A brilliant image, old man!

The noise has been “clipped” away. Almost all the noise was in almost black areas, so by using a small amount of black clipping(7 in this case) almost all of it disappeared. However, when “clipping” noise you can’t use fill light, so this has to be taken into consideration when taking the images.

Very nice composition. The light adds a fine vibrancy to the picture!
